Read Across the Parish

Join your local library on March 2, 2026 for Read Across the Parish Day! Each branch will have special events planned from 4-6pm. 

 

Mardi Gras Break 2026

All TPSS schools will be closed for Mardi Gras Break Feb. 16 - 20, 2026. We will see our students and teachers back on campus Monday, February 23.

Chemistry Halloween Thumbnail

Making Jack-o-Lanterns with Chemistry!

This is a chemical reaction illustrating the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide with a Halloween flair. The students came up with the idea to have a Halloween experiment and practiced measuring skills by measuring out the metric amounts required for the reaction. The reaction vessel that the students chose was a carved pumpkin. They also assisted in "scooping" out the pumpkin.

Our Principles of Engineering students just completed their Civil Engineering unit with an incredible hands-on project — designing and building hydraulic-powered drawbridges! Using the principles of hydraulics, teamwork, and creative design, students constructed working models that demonstrate how fluid power can move large structures with precision. The results were amazing!

Perfect Attendance Celebration

On October 20th and 21st we celebrated Perfect Attendance!  Every student who had perfect attendance at the ACCMC in the first nine weeks was treated to a special breakfast provided by our ProStart culinary class. Great job to all of these students!

Conditioning Project

Shaping Behavior Exercise in Psychology DE!

Students are studying Positive Reinforcement and Shaping.  In class we practiced this by nonverbally rewarding our "test subjects" with candy as they got closer to completing the desired behavior.

Each month, our expert LASARD facilitators or guests will discuss topics like social skills, visual supports, self-regulation tips, communication strategies, and more! These webinars are for educators, families, and anyone else interested.
 

Lunch + Learns happen on the second Friday of each month from 12:00-12:30pm.

Tangipahoa Parish School System Moves Closer to Full Unitary Status in Federal Desegregation Case

In a historic step forward, the plaintiffs in the 60-year federal desegregation case involving the Tangipahoa Parish School System have signed a consent agreement with the district in the areas of Faculty and Staff Assignment, Teacher Assignment, and Student Assignment. Following this agreement, attorneys for the school system have filed motions with U.S. District Judge Ivan Lemelle seeking final unitary status in all three of these key areas.
